Bucket List

Building A Bucket List

Welcome to the newest category of my blog – “Bucket List”.  For the past couple of years, I have been adding things to my bucket list as I think of them.  I decided having a category for these items, would not only help me keep them in order, but give me a place where I could write about them as I accomplish them,  as well as record my journey getting there.

Even though a Bucket List is a list of things you want to accomplish before you kick the bucket, it is not a morbid or sad list.  It is merely a list of things you would like to do, either because they are just fun, or because they will bring you a sense of accomplishment.  Some of the items on my list (which, my list is still a list in progress) are there because they are things that I want to do simply for the enjoyment of doing them.  Some of them are on my list because they are things that I have always wanted to do, I just haven’t been quite sure about ever having the opportunity.  Some of them are on my list because, not only do I want to do them, but I know I am going to have to work towards it and push myself to accomplish it.

I do feel like a good list should be a balanced list.  By having some easier to acccomplish items, I can cross them off, but also add to them, and make them a little more challenging.    Kind of like a “next stage” achievement.  For example, I have “learn to ski” on my current list.  We all know that did not happen on my first ski outing over New Years.  At some point, I will learn to ski though,  and I will cross that particular item off of my list.  However, learning to ski will probably not be the end of it (assuming I enjoy it once I get the hang of it).  Maybe my next stage will be to ski a beginner slope (I am currently on the Magic Carpet – one step under the Bunny Hill).  My next stage after that, would be to ski a moderate slope, all the way until I am on the advanced slopes with advanced skiers.  By combining some easier quests with the more difficult ones, it allows for a sense of accomplishment, and keeps the list fun and enjoyable.

I do not have a set time (other than the obvious) for crossing items off of my bucket list.  Nor are they listed in any particular order, other than as I thought of them.   As I think of more ideas to add to my list, I will come back and edit this post to make the additions.  If you have a suggestion, let me know what it is!  I am always open to suggestions 🙂  And if this post encourages you to start your own Bucket List, I would love to know the kind of things you are adding!  The only rules you need to follow, are to make them enjoyable, and have fun!
