The Burrowing Owl Of Nevada
The last time I was in Nevada, was the first time I ever came across one of these cute little owls! Since then, I have found myself searching for them everywhere, whenever I am here. I had almost given up on seeing one on this visit, when, about 2 weeks ago, we were out walking. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw some slight movement near a culvert. I stopped to look, and there it was, my second ever, Burrowing Owl! I stopped to get a picture (or 2 or 3), and it was at this moment, that I realized this little guy wasn’t alone! Across the…

Sittin’ Pretty
After a very long time with lockdown restrictions and Covid19 closures, Scout is happy to announce her first visit back to a groomer since…December of 2019! That is 6 months of growing out her crazy, aussome hair! Even with brushing, it is impossible to tame and control her hair after awhile… So, with the recent re-opening of businesses in the area, she was able to get a much needed groom! this is the shortest her hair has ever been groomed before… But, with temperatures hovering near 105+, she is feeling pretty content. And the fact that she looks like a puppy all over again, is something to bark about! ❤️?❤️?❤️?

Holiday Season Is Here In St. Claire, Michigan!
It’s official! The holiday season has begun, here in St. Claire, Michigan! If you were here in downtown St. Claire last night, you couldn’t help but feel festive! All around, the shops, streets and boardwalk, were decorated and lit up in celebration of the beginning of the holiday season. Christmas music streamed from the speakers along the river, while people sang along to “Santa Clause Is Coming To Town” and “Jingle Bells”, among other songs. Fires were lit in the fire pits in the City Square, as people stood around them, hot drinks in hand, trying to ward off the frosty chill of the air. Parking lots were packed,…

Owl Be Darned!
Found this little guy in Nevada! He is a Burrowing Owl, and is about the size of my hand! A little Burrowing Owl trivia: As adults, they have a body length that only ranges between 8.5 inches to 11 inches. They have a wingspan of 20-24 inches. They only weigh between 6 and 8 ounces. They live approximately 9 years. They can be found at elevations ranging from 200 feet below sea level, to 9000 feet above sea level. They nest in burrows made by other animals, such as gophers. Their primary diet consists of beetles and grasshoppers, but, they will eat reptiles, birds and bats. Pretty amazing, given…

Beale Half Marathon – September 14, 2018
I do not normally “bark” about myself directly, but today I am going to, because I am actually pretty happy with myself! A few years ago I stumbled onto a website about the National Park Half Marathon Series. My goal, since then, has been to run one half marathon within that series each year, until I have run each one at least once. This year, I was signed up to run the Rocky Mountain Half in August, in Estes Park, CO. The challenge with this goal of mine, is being in a location close enough to the location of the race, AT THE TIME OF THE RACE. Originally I thought…

Making Every Mile Count
Do you run? Maybe you walk, or ride a bike. Chances are, if you do not, someone you know does. Maybe it is a best friend, or a daughter or a mother, a sister, or even a brother or a son. We all have activities that we enjoy doing. I run. I have been running for quite a few years now, and I more often than not, run alone. Normally, I would run around the same time, on the same route. There was a time when I didn’t really ever give much thought to where or when I was running. I would put on my running shoes, and just go. …

Happy Birthday Scout!!
Two years ago today, on Saturday, July 23, 2016, I was grocery shopping. Usually, I am a very good shopper. I go up and down every aisle, paying attention to sales, new products, items I never knew I needed. On this particular day, my attention was not on my shopping. I was glued to my phone. As I wandered up and down the aisles, making my way through the store, all I was interested in was the video I was watching on my phone. It was a web cam video of the birth of my soon to be puppy! I yelped with excitement every time another puppy made its appearance! …
