Whether you hike, bike or just want to drive, this area will not disappoint you! We decided to cycle the Scenic Loop Drive. Here is our story, review and suggestions. An Invisible Thread – A Book Review
Book 1 of 12 (starting over for 2020) An Invisible Thread by Laura Schroff and Alex Tresniowski “An invisible thread connects those who are destined to meet, regardless of time, place and circumstance. The thread may stretch or tangle, but it will never break.” -Chinese Proverb This book made me happy and sad, all at the same time. It is the true story of a woman and an eleven year old boy, who meet by chance, and whose lives are forever changed as a result of one random act of kindness. Laura is a well established Sales Executive living in New…

My Favorite Michigan Eats
As our time here in Michigan comes to an end (for now), I wanted to get at least one more post in. It seems like the time here has gone so quickly! The holiday season took up a little bit of that time – preparing for Thanksgiving, and then Christmas, as well as heading back West for the month of December (and part of January). Since returning from the holiday visits, our time here has been spent getting ready to get back on the road for the next adventure! This has left little, to no more, time for sightseeing in this beautiful state. There is so much I still want…

Riding Standing Up – A Book Review
Book 5 of 12 Riding Standing Up By Sparrow Spaulding I should probably start the book review for May, with the statement that this post is only my opinion. I know everyone has differing opinions about the books they read, just as they do about movies that they watch. If you have read the content description of this book, or for any other reason, have decided you want to read it, by all means, read it. My intent is not to discourage anyone from reading anything, it is simply to let you know my thoughts on what I have read. That said, here is my review on my choice for my…

40 Days – A Book Review
Book 4 of 12 40 Days by Steven Cannon “The number 1 reason to adventure, to go beyond your comfort zone, is that with each mile, each hour, you uncover a bit more of who you are at your core” – Steve Cannon I have finished April’s Bucket List book! If you are someone who enjoys adventure, the outdoors, running, or just a good book about human spirit, then you will enjoy reading 40 Days. It is the true story of one man’s journey as he ran, for forty days, around Lake Michigan. Steve Cannon’s life could have gone in any direction years ago when he was failing out of college, and…

“Beauty Sick” – A Book Review
Book 3 of 12 Beauty Sick by Rene Engeln, PhD Never be too proud of your youth or your beauty. You did nothing to earn them, and you can do nothing to keep them. – Beauty Sick After several months of being told I needed to read Beauty Sick, I finally relented, and decided I would read it for my third book review of my Bucket List books. I do not even know where to begin with my review on this book! I can tell you, this book had a profound impact on me. You can see by the cover of the book that this book deals with “How the Cultural Obsession…

“Mockingbird A Portrait Of Harper Lee” – A Book Review
Book 2 of 12 – Mockingbird A Portrait Of Harper Lee by Charles J. Shields February’s book for my bucket list of books, took me a couple of weeks longer to finish than I expected. But I have finally finished it, and I am excited to share it with you! I came across this book in a bookstore in downtown Beaufort, SC. The bookstore, in itself, is a fantastic find! Nevermore Books is located in one of the buildings in the Historic District of downtown Beaufort, and is home to many hard to find and vintage books. I was just going to go in and browse. As I walked around looking at all…

“High Achiever” – A Book Review
Since #14 on my Bucket List is to “read one true story each month for a year”, I decided to post a review for each book that I complete for my Bucket List, as I complete it. This will not only provide some insight into the book itself, as well as my opinion of the book, but, maybe, it will encourage others to read it as well – and form their own opinion. If you have already read it, feel free to share your thoughts on it! Here we go with book 1 of 12… High Achiever by Tiffany Jenkins This is not a book that I would have normally…

The Thundershirt For Dogs
Do you have a dog? Is he or she anxious, nervous, or a little scared at times? If you answered “yes” to any of those, and you are looking for a drug-free solution to help calm your furry little friend, then you may want to consider giving the Thundershirt a try! We purchased Thundershirts this past winter and have had the opportunity to try them out in a variety of different situations. Scout is normally pretty laid back, and happy to nap, (unless, of course, she is on an adventure). But there are a few triggers that she reacts to, and we decided to hit the pet stores in…

Recreation Outlet in Salt Lake City, UT – Bargain shopping at its best!
Once in awhile you stumble upon a really great deal, in a really unsuspecting place. Such was the case a couple of weeks ago while spending the day in Salt Lake City. I had been wanting to buy a kayak for about the past two years. I had only been once, but ever since that one time, I was hooked! We had spent an evening kayaking down the Missouri River in Montana. I went with a friend and her sister, who had both been kayaking many times before. I borrowed one of their kayaks, and got the quick rundown on how to get in it, and more importantly, stay in…
