    Beale Half Marathon – September 14, 2018

I do not normally “bark” about myself directly, but today I am going to, because I am actually pretty happy with myself! A few years ago I stumbled onto a website about the National Park Half Marathon Series.  My goal, since then, has been to run one half marathon within that series each year, until I have run each one at least once.  This year, I was signed up to run the Rocky Mountain Half in August, in Estes Park, CO.  The challenge with this goal of mine, is being in a location close enough to the location of the race, AT THE TIME OF THE RACE.  Originally I thought…

    Once Upon A Cold Brew

Starbucks who??  Actually, I am a fan of a few of their drinks.  This cold brew that we have been making though, not only has it diminished my trips to Starbucks, but, it is sort of like a fairy tale.  From the very beginning, when you first open that bag of coffee beans (or grinds, if you do not have a grinder), the aroma that escapes the bag – it is like it is casting a spell on you as it pulls you in.  And those beans, they must be magic beans, because no other drink (or potion 🙂 ) can do what one sip of coffee can do – completely…

    Making Every Mile Count

Do you run?  Maybe you walk, or ride a bike.  Chances are, if you do not, someone you know does.  Maybe it is a best friend, or a daughter or a mother, a sister, or even a brother or a son.  We all have activities that we enjoy doing.  I run.  I have been running for quite a few years now, and I more often than not, run alone.  Normally, I would run around the same time, on the same route.  There was a time when I didn’t really ever give much thought to where or when I was running.  I would put on my running shoes, and just go. …

On A Roll At Sushi In The Raw In Nevada City, California

I have to start this post by saying that Nevada City is a great little town.  Located about 60 miles Northeast of Sacramento, it was, at one time, the most important mining town in the state of California.  Today, many of the buildings are on the Register of Historic Places.  They are considered historical landmarks, and have been preserved.  And just FYI, for those of you who like to watch sappy Hallmark Christmas movies (you know who you are…), the 2006 Hallmark Movie, The Christmas Carol, was filmed here. On Saturday night, we had reservations (made a MONTH in advance), to have dinner at Sushi In The Raw.  I have to…

Going to a pot luck, and wondering what you could bring that will be enough for everyone?  Maybe, you are hosting a dinner for a lot of people and just want one simple dish to feed everyone. Or, maybe, you are just looking for something you can make that you can have a little fun with! Paella could be the answer for you.  It is a dish that can be as cheap or expensive as you want to make it.  It can be simple, with minimal ingredients; or you can run with it, and put a little bit of everything and anything in it.  One thing is for sure though, you will have…

A Weekend At Fisherman’s Wharf In San Francisco, CA

“I’ve been high, and I’ve been low.  I’ve been yes, and I’ve been oh, hell no!  I’ve been rock ‘n roll and disco.  Won’t you save me San Francisco?” – Train I love San Francisco!  I was super excited to spend the weekend at Fisherman’s Wharf, and it did not disappoint!!  Let me just start at the beginning… Getting there… From where we are right now, San Francisco is about a 3 hour drive, give or take a little, depending on traffic.  We were on the road by about 3 p.m. Friday afternoon.  Traffic wasn’t to awful, and the drive was actually pretty.  I love bridges, and we had to…

    Happy Birthday Scout!!

Two years ago today, on Saturday, July 23, 2016, I was grocery shopping.  Usually, I am a very good shopper.  I go up and down every aisle, paying attention to sales, new products, items I never knew I needed.  On this particular day, my attention was not on my shopping.  I was glued to my phone.  As I wandered up and down the aisles, making my way through the store, all I was interested in was the video I was watching on my phone.  It was a web cam video of the birth of my soon to be puppy!  I yelped with excitement every time another puppy made its appearance! …

Hot Dog! It’s Friday the 13th!

What do hot dogs and Friday the 13th have in common?  Not much, because Friday the 13th is supposed to be bad luck, and well, there is just nothing bad about a hot dog, ever, in my opinion. Friday the 13th has become synonymous with bad luck and superstitions.  Don’t walk under a ladder today, or you will have bad luck….Ok, well, you probably shouldn’t walk under a ladder on any day.  If you are born on Friday the 13th, you are supposed to be unlucky for life….that just doesn’t even seem fair.  I’m sorry if today is your birthday.  A lot of hotels and buildings skip having a 13th floor…

    The Thundershirt For Dogs

Do you have a dog?  Is he or she anxious, nervous, or a little scared at times?  If you answered “yes” to any of those,  and you are looking for a drug-free solution to help calm your furry little friend, then you may want to consider giving the Thundershirt a try! We purchased Thundershirts this past winter and have had the opportunity to try them out in a variety of different situations. Scout is normally pretty laid back, and happy to nap, (unless, of course, she is on an adventure). But there are a few triggers that she reacts to, and we decided to hit the pet stores in…

    Le Meridien – Tampa, Florida

Airports, road trips, weddings, cruise ships, haunted cities and historic hotels,,,this has been a crazy (in a good way) week or two!  With so much going on, in such a quick amount of time, it has been difficult knowing where, or how, to even start this post.  I found myself completely fascinated with two stops on this trip, and I have decided to focus this post on one of those two places – Le Meridien, in Tampa, Florida.  Savannah, Georgia being the second place, and a future post. Tampa, Florida as we know it today, is a very popular, busy and growing city on the gulf coast of Florida. …
